DECA has shaped me into the person that I am today. It's not only shaped my business skills, but also it's changed the way I go about my relationships, the way I think about daily problems, and it's turned me into the leader I am today and will be for my future. Whether it's going to Districts, Camp DECA, Power Trip, or my chapter's weekly meetings, all of these experiences in DECA sculpted me into who I am, and I want to showcase my story.

My first year of DECA I was slow to get involved. I wasn't even going to go to Districts until my advisor, Mr Conroy, had my friend call me in the middle of class during the last day to sign up to ask me if I was going. So I said yes. I ended up winning at districts. At states I got 8th in my event and met some amazing people. I was lucky enough to be a sub in for ICDC and I had one of the best time of my life there in Anehiem. I met amazing people that I still talk to to this day. My eyes got opened to all of the leadership and job opportunities that are possible, and I created lifelong connections with people in my chapter.

Sophmore year I got more involved. After going to ICDC my first year, I needed to experince that again. I went to more meetings, attened more conferences and studied more. I went to FLC and learned from real business leaders. I went to Powertrip in North Carolina and make friends from all across the country and learned amazing leadership skills. I went to District, then States. At States, I won my first glass. This was one of the best feelings of my life. Holding up that glass made me realize that I can do whatever I put my mind do and it made my life seem limitless. I went to ICDC in Orlando and strenthened those lifelong connections I made in my chapter.

Junior year I took my biggest step. I applied for my chapters officer team. I was blessed enough to be elected as chapter president. During my eight months of being my chapters president, I've learned so much. I've learned how to be a leader, real life skills that I will use in my future career, communication skills, and most importantly I've learned so much about myself and who I am as a person. As far as trips go, I went to a real trade convention where I learned how it was like to be a real life business owner. I went to Camp DECA and created amazing freindships (shout out Teal Team 6) while learning leadership skills. I went to Powertrip and Nascar DECA Day and learned about what I wanted to do in the future. I went to Districts, and won, and now I'm here campaigning to be YOUR next state officer!
